Hi, I’m Blake Anderson. I’m the administrator of A Banyan Residence Assisted Living.
One of the challenges that people have anticipating a move into assisted living is the actual stress, What do I do? What should I expect? And, am I making the right decision?
Really, a lot of the work is already done. Now, we take these move-ins very seriously to make sure they go as smooth as possible, because that first aid does set a precedent for the resident’s stay while they’re with us.
Every department head and every employee knows that this resident is coming, and goes out of their way to introduce themselves. Now, the best way to make for a successful move-in is to bring items that the a new resident cherishes, and make sure that those are already in the room before they see it, because then that room looks like a familiar space.
And it may be as simple as a quilt that was passed down from family member to family member, or pictures of loved ones or spouses that are already hung on the wall. And we have teams that will help you set up these rooms. I will give you a maintenance guy for the whole day to set up the room exactly how you want it, so that resident does feel comfortable.
