Marsha: They’re going to make you real pretty like you always are. OK?
Female Speaker: Say handsome.
Eddie: Well, thank you.
Female Speaker: Handsome, not pretty.
Marsha: Well, I’m Marsha Hawkes [Phonetic] and this is my husband Eddie and we are in Banyan Memory Care and God must have brought us here because it’s like paradise. It is so beautiful.
They don’t know that they are in memory care. It is so gorgeous and the people here are so kind and loving and they take care of everyone. A lot of kindness. Nobody acts like they’re being put out for anything. When I say, you know, Ed has to use the restroom, they’re right there with him and sometimes I bring up a picnic and we sit out by the ice cream parlor and we have a hamburger, a Dr. Pepper or whatever I feel like bringing up and just the two of us.
We have made an awful lot of friends with the people that are here and it was the most affordable place for my husband on all things and he gets the most for our money.
I cannot believe it. I said, “Ed, are they helping you?”
“Oh, yes, they’re helping me.”
“When you have to use the restroom, are they helping you there?”
“Oh, yes, absolutely.”
“Is the food OK honey?”
“Yes, everything is great.”
He has no complaints and he has a comfortable bed. They take his laundry. I could not ask for anymore because I’m here and I don’t have family here. It’s just the two of us. Well, I should not say that. It’s the three of us, if you count little Louie our dog. Yeah, and I bring him up and the people love to have dogs up here.
They love to have what they lost from many years ago and they just caress them.
